The European fashion industry is experiencing significant transformation driven by digital innovation and sustainability demands. These industry shifts have created a disconnect between higher education and market needs – only 18% of European fashion design programmes include modules on AI applications, despite 76% of industry leaders identifying AI proficiency as essential. Additionally, 65% of fashion industry employers report difficulties finding graduates with combined sustainability and digital competencies.
The FASHIONAISE project addresses these challenges by integrating AI tools and sustainability principles into fashion design education through comprehensive learning modules, practical assignments, and a Digital Atelier Hub accessible to institutions across Europe. Training workshops and an Academic Guidebook will ensure successful integration of this innovative content into partner HEIs’ curricula. By addressing the gaps between tertiary education and industry needs, this project will equip the next generation of fashion designers with the knowledge and skills to create environmentally responsible and technologically advanced fashion solutions.
