Ege University s is a 70-year-old state university that acts as a focal point for education, research, cultural and social activities in the city of Izmir and the Aegean region. Its vision is to be an educational and research institution which has advanced organizational bonds with reputable national and international science and technology institutions and to be an equivalent educational institution, having a strong institutional culture and identity, a high degree organizational commitment, to the high ranked universities in the world. EGE is a research-based, student-oriented institution, training students up to Doctorate level. Currently, there are 60,000 students enrolled in different programmes at the University and the number of the academic staff is approximately 3,000. EGE ranks among the top five Universities in Turkiye with respect to its publications, patent disclosures and commercialization of results. Ege University Emel Akın Vocational School trains qualified textile technicians since 1988. Education period is 2 years. There are three programs in the school - Apparel Production Technology, Fashion Design and Textile Technology. In the vocational school the students learn all the production techniques for textile apparel manufacturing. They gain occupational knowledge and terminology at textile technology and apparel fields. The vocational school also cooperates with EGE Textile and Apparel Research and Application Center. In order to contribute to the development of the Textile and Apparel industry and country's economy, the
center is carrying out scientific and applied research and development studies suitable to the conditions of our country and educating researchers in the field of textile and apparel industry.
